[Opening scene - Jasmine's apartment, Joe covering Jasmines' eyes guides her to the living room.]

JASMINE: So exciting! [Laughs]

DR. JOE: Okay. Keep going straight, keep going straight.

JASMINE: Okay.

DR. JOE: All right, all right, now we can just... a little bit to the right.

JASMINE: Uh-huh, uh-huh.

DR. JOE: All right, I got you. There's a little tight squeeze here.

JASMINE: Uh-huh.

DR. JOE: To the left, left, left.

JASMINE: Whoa!

DR. JOE: Okay, you ready?

JASMINE: Yeah.

DR. JOE: You ready? You ready?

JASMINE: Yeah. Aah!

DR. JOE: Boom! Check it out.

[A large tent is set up in the living room.]

JASMINE: Whoa.

DR. JOE: I know, right?

JASMINE: You... you just put this all together?

DR. JOE: Yeah.

JASMINE: You did all this?

DR. JOE: Yeah, step inside.

JASMINE: Wow.

DR. JOE: Okay.

JASMINE: I like this.

DR. JOE: Yeah, now, it's got these dual doors, right? For cross-ventilation.

JASMINE: Okay, mm-hmm.

DR. JOE: Keeps it cool.

[NEW SCENE - Cut to Crosby under the bed sheets with Lily and a flashlight.]

CROSBY: So I open up the back door, and on the porch was a box that I'd never seen before. And I opened up the box, and there was this note, and I read the note, and it said... [Yelling] "What's gonna happen to me?"

LILY: Aah! [Giggling] You suck.

CROSBY: What?

LILY: You can't tell that story at your son's camping trip.

CROSBY: Why?

LILY: Because they're seven years old!

CROSBY: It's "G" rated.

LILY: No.

CROSBY: There's not even any swearing.

[NEW SCENE - Back to Jasmine and Joe.]

DR. JOE: So are you gonna be putting this tent up by yourself, or you think Crosby knows how to do that?

JASMINE: You know you don't have to worry. There's nothing to worry about.

DR. JOE: I'm not worried, about you spending the night in a tent with your ex. Why would I be worried?

JASMINE: [Laughs] Well, I'll be fine.

DR. JOE: Okay. I love you.

JASMINE: I love you too.

DR. JOE: Please don't break my tent. Don't do it.

JASMINE: I'm not gonna break your stupid tent, okay?

DR. JOE: Okay.

[They kiss]

[NEW SCENE - Braverman guesthouse. Early morning. Sarah and Mark still in bed spooning.]

MARK: You know where you should be, Sarah Braverman? Uh, I think you should be in New York City.

SARAH: Mm.

MARK: I think you should move to New York City with me.

SARAH: [Opening her eyes wide.] What?

MARK: Yep. You heard me. [Sarah rolls over to face Mark.] I think that we should move to New York, and you work on your plays. That's where all the theater is, and I think it would be good for you, and... and we could just do it.

SARAH: But we're planning to have a baby.

MARK: Yes, we are, and they allow babies in New York now.

SARAH: [Joking] No, they don't.

MARK: Yeah, they do. I think it passed in the last election.

SARAH: Oh? What about the children that I have?

MARK: Those children? Well, I've thought about everything. We wait until drew graduates, and we take that time to plan for it, and I get a sabbatical. That's what we do.

SARAH: We just... Move to New York City?

MARK: We just move to New York City.

[Sarah smiles as she thinks about the proposal.]

[NEW SCENE - Upmarket restaurant, Adam and Crosby sitting in a booth with another man.]

RICHARD: The luncheonette is a little piece of history that sat in the dust for years. You guys come along and resurrected it. I gotta tell you, we're all blown away by how that place is taking off.

CROSBY: Thanks.

ADAM: Thank you.

CROSBY: We're pretty blown away too, when we walk in...

ADAM: Thank you very much, kind words.

CROSBY: Yeah.

ADAM: How long have you been the head of west coast recording?

RICHARD: 12 years.

CROSBY: Wow. Well, I hope we're around for 12 years.

ADAM: Yeah, longer than that.

RICHARD: You guys have caught the eye of the players in this business, to the extent that we'd like to make you an offer to buy the Luncheonette.

CROSBY: You want to buy the lu... [Laughs]

RICHARD: [Chuckles]

CROSBY: That's really flattering, but, uh, we're... it's not for sale.

ADAM: Um, I'm sorry, I'm very unprepared for that. You want to buy it?

RICHARD: Yeah, yeah.

CROSBY: Yeah, but that... but that... but thank you.

RICHARD: We figured you'd feel that way, but I wanted to meet you anyway just to see the two guys who pulled this off.

ADAM: Here we are, right?

CROSBY: It's... it's not for sale.

RICHARD: And since we're all here, why don't you let me show you this offer?

ADAM: It... it... please, that's really... it's not necessary. As my brother said, the Luncheonette is not for sale.

CROSBY: Yeah.

RICHARD: I hear you, I get it. But let me show it to you, so I can go back and tell my guys that I did my job.

ADAM: All right.

RICHARD: Now understand, we would cover all your start-up costs and assume your lease.

ADAM: Mm-hmm.

RICHARD: This is your take-away.

[Richard shows them a business card with $1,000,000 written on in.]

ADAM: Uh.

RICHARD: You can touch it.

ADAM: [Laughs]

RICHARD: [Laughs]

ADAM: I'm sorry, um... Wow. Uh, wow.

RICHARD: Yeah.

ADAM: Uh, I... uh...

CROSBY: That's so...

ADAM: Yeah.

CROSBY: Flattering, thank you. That makes us feel great. But not in a million years, you know. We love it so much.

ADAM: As my brother said, the Luncheonette is not for sale.

CROSBY: Thank you, though.

RICHARD: Not for sale?

ADAM: Nope.

[Adam is clearly interested by the offer.]

[NEW SCENE - Market isle. melancholy music playing as Zoe is pushing a shopping cart. She stops and starts breathing heavily as she looks for her cell phone.]

[NEW SCENE - Julia and Joel's bedroom, it's late at night and they are asleep when the phone rings.]

JOEL: Is it me?

JULIA: No, it's me. [Answering her cell phone.] Zoe, hey.

ZOE: [In the market] I'm in the dairy section, and my water just broke.

JULIA: Are you having contractions?

ZOE: Yeah, but they're just little ones. It feels like a stomachache. I thought it was a stomachache.

JULIA: Okay, where are you? I'm gonna come get you.

ZOE: I'm at Sam's market on Third.

JULIA: Okay, don't move, all right? I'm coming right now. Everything's gonna be okay. Okay?

ZOE: Okay. [Worried.] Can you come soon, please?

JULIA: I'm coming right now. Right now.

ZOE: Okay.

JULIA: Okay, bye. [Hangs up.] Oh, my God.

JOEL: You want me to go pick her up?

JULIA: No, no, no. I'm going to get her.

JOEL: You sure?

JULIA: Yeah, you stay here with Syd. I think she's gonna want me at the hospital.

JOEL: Yeah.

JULIA: I'll call you as soon as we get there.

JOEL: And there's your bag... here's your bag, your purse.

JULIA: Okay.

JOEL: Hey.

JULIA: Yeah?

JOEL: Our son is coming.

JULIA: Our son is coming. [Laughs]

[The both laugh quietly and hug.]

[Opening credits - featuring “Forever Young” by Bob Dylan]

[NEW SCENE - Braverman house. Amber comes down the stairs.]

SARAH: Oh, my God. [Laughs] Hi. I thought I heard something. What are you doing?

AMBER: Um, laundry.

SARAH: Why?

AMBER: Because my clothes were dirty, so...

SARAH: It's the middle of the day, I mean. Did you get the day off?

AMBER: Right. Uh, no, I didn't. Um, I don't work there any more.

SARAH: Oh. Oh, no. Oh, honey.

AMBER: It's fine, it's not a problem.

SARAH: I'm sorry. It is a problem.

AMBER: Mom, stop, please, it's not. It was my choice. Okay? Don't...

SARAH: It was your choice?

AMBER: Yes, it was my choice.

SARAH: You quit?

AMBER: I did not want to work there any more.

SARAH: Amber, wh... why? You loved it there.

AMBER: Because it wasn't the right fit for me.

SARAH: What wasn't the right fit?

AMBER: It just wasn't. It just wasn't. I...

SARAH: Honey, what happened?

AMBER: I don't want to get into it.

SARAH: You did fit in.

AMBER: Don't want to get into it. We'll talk soon.

[Sarah watches Amber leave the house.]

[NEW SCENE - Jasmine's apartment. Crosby is there.]

JASMINE: Okay, we got Graham crackers, the marshmallows, the chocolate... we got a lot of chocolate.

CROSBY: Lantern, the hatchet...

JASMINE: We got... what do we need a hatchet for?

CROSBY: In case we got to bring down on, you know, some tree branches, get the fire going.

JASMINE: All right, we got pillows, blankets, flashlights. Oh, and Joe brought his tent over, just in case.

CROSBY: In case of what?

JASMINE: In case that tent doesn't work. Do you have all the poles for it?

CROSBY: This tent?

JASMINE: Yeah.

CROSBY: Listen to me, the Kennedys... they have Hyannis Port. We, the Bravermans, have this tent. You don't need to worry about the poles. This is a very, very nice piece of camping equipment. Family members of mine have been conceived in here.

JASMINE: [Laughs]

CROSBY: You don't even know about camping. That hair doesn't camp.

JASMINE: Yes, this hair does, okay?

CROSBY: Oh, really?

JASMINE: I was a girl scout, and we went camping.

CROSBY: Oh, you went camping?

JASMINE: Yeah, we did.

CROSBY: Where at, super 8?

JASMINE: [Sighs]

CROSBY: Wait, um, there's only one pillow.

JASMINE: Yeah, that's because I'm not sleeping over. I'm gonna come back.

CROSBY: You're not sleeping in the tent with us?

JASMINE: No, I was just gonna go, hang out for a little bit, and come back, you know, just spend the evening there.

CROSBY: Oh, okay. I thought... all right.

JASMINE: Yeah, I just figured that, you know, the two of you...

CROSBY: Okay.

JASMINE: You know, you don't really need me there.

CROSBY: Yeah, well, it'll be great. You want to help me carry some of this stuff?

JASMINE: Yeah.

CROSBY: Well, I'll carry the light stuff. Maybe grab the skillets and stuff?

JASMINE: [Laughs]

[NEW SCENE - Hospital, Maternity Ward. Zoe is on the bed, a door opens and Julia enters.]

ZOE: Yeah, yeah? No. [Julia holds up an icee.] Oh, yes!

JULIA: [Chuckles]

ZOE: Yes, is that cherry?

JULIA: It's cherry.

ZOE: Yay! Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

JULIA: You're welcome.

ZOE: [Growls]

JULIA: I stole this off of the nurses' cart for you, so...

ZOE: [laughing] You?

JULIA: Yeah, hush.

ZOE: Cherry. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Mmm. [Sighs]

JULIA: [Laughs]

ZOE: This is amazing. Why don't they let you eat during labor? I feel so weak.

JULIA: I know. It's in case there's, you know, any reason for an emergency surgery. You don't want to choke during anesthesia. [Zoe stops eating.] Okay... You are gonna be fine. This baby's gonna come out the old-fashioned way. Eat your icee.

ZOE: Yeah, enjoy the icee.

JULIA: Come on.

ZOE: Gonna go in emergency surgery. Just enjoy your icee.

JULIA: Joel stole, like, ten of those for me when I was having Sydney.

ZOE: Really?

JULIA: Mm-hmm.

ZOE: [Laughing] Joel?

JULIA: Mm-hmm.

ZOE: Really?

JULIA: Yeah.

ZOE: Joel seems like he'd be, like, a really good guy to have in this situation.

JULIA: He was amazing. He was.

ZOE: Was it just you guys?

JULIA: Are you kidding me? My crazy family? It was like a revolving door in here.

ZOE: [Chuckles]

JULIA: Seriously. At one point, I swear, there were a dozen people in here, and everyone just thinks that I'm supposed to be fine with having my knees pointed at opposite continents, with all of them… and just the sheet.

ZOE: Ew. [Laughs]

JULIA: But that's the Bravermans, you know? Try and keep 'em out. [Zoe looks worried.] What's up?

ZOE: I never even told my mom and my sister I was pregnant. I just... since I wasn't keeping it, I didn't think there was a point.

JULIA: I'm sorry.

NURSE: Okay. It's time. We're gonna move you into the delivery room now.

ZOE: No.

NURSE: You'll be fine. It's okay.

ZOE: No, I'm not ready. I'm not ready. Please, no. Please, can I just stay here?

JULIA: Zoe, hey, hey, it's okay.

ZOE: I don't want to go. I don't want to go.

[NEW SCENE - Kristina's office at the campaign head quarters. Sarah ans Kristina talking.]

SARAH: Well, Amber quit. What happened?

KRISTINA: She... okay, um... She told you she quit?

SARAH: Oh, was she fired?

KRISTINA: No, no, no, no. I... no, she wasn't fired.

SARAH: What happened?

KRISTINA: Can you close the door?

SARAH: Oh, sorry, yeah.

KRISTINA: Um...

SARAH: Oh, gosh. What is it?

KRISTINA: Okay. This is gonna be very awkward to say to you. Amber, um... Amber and Bob were about to have an affair. [Pointing at the poster behind her.] Bob Little, her boss.

SARAH: Is he married?

KRISTINA: The candidate. No, he's not married.

SARAH: Oh. When you said, "affair," I thought...

KRISTINA: Yeah, they were on a...

SARAH: That's not... They were just about to...

KRISTINA: Business trip. They were on the verge. They were on a business trip...

SARAH: [Smiling] Oh, God.

KRISTINA: Up in Sacramento.

SARAH: Yeah.

KRISTINA: And I went up there because Haddie had tipped me off with some information.

SARAH: Wait.

KRISTINA: So I went up there, just... I know, I know, and I went in...

SARAH: No, no, I'm sorry, wait.

KRISTINA: And I saw them half-undressed, so I took her home...

SARAH: Wait, because...

KRISTINA: And now she won't come back to work, and I'm devastated for her.

SARAH: I'm sorry. I don't understand the problem.

KRISTINA: I'm s...

SARAH: So they like each other?

KRISTINA: I don't... no. Sarah, I went there to stop it. We're in the middle of a campaign, and I'm trying to protect Amber.

SARAH: So the campaign is in trouble if he goes on a date with somebody? I don't understand.

KRISTINA: You shouldn't date your boss.

SARAH: She didn't do anything wrong at work.

KRISTINA: It's all intertwined. It's all intermingled.

SARAH: No, no, it's not. It's not.

KRISTINA: Sarah, he's 28 years old...

SARAH: If she's gonna learn that it's not right to date your boss, she's gonna learn it on her own.

KRISTINA: I didn't want her to make a mistake, okay?

SARAH: I don't want her to make a mistake, either. I'm her mother.

KRISTINA: Please keep your voice down.

SARAH: She's got to make her own mistakes, doesn't she?

KRISTINA: Lower your voice, please.

SARAH: I'm sorry. [Smiling, not seeing the problem.]

KRISTINA: You should probably leave. I think what you meant to say was, "thank you so much for looking out for my daughter," because if it were Haddie, I would hope to God you'd do the same thing for me, okay? I'm at work right now.

[NEW SCENE - Luncheonette offices, Crosby on his computer.]

CROSBY: Wet wipes. [Singing softly to himself.] “gotta have wet wipes on a camping trip”

ADAM: [Entering the room.] Hey.

CROSBY: Hey.

ADAM: Could we talk?

CROSBY: Uh, yeah. I'm leaving in a second, but what is it?

ADAM: Yeah. Uh, I just want to talk about that offer.

CROSBY: Yeah, that was crazy, huh?

ADAM: Yeah, that is a lot of money.

CROSBY: Yeah, lot of money. [short pause] And what?

ADAM: And I fully understand that you don't want to sell. But I feel like we at least need to discuss it.

CROSBY: Uh, there's nothing to discuss.

ADAM: Well, that's not entirely the case. There is something to discuss because I'm a partner, and I want to discuss it.

CROSBY: Okay. Well, I don't want to discuss it.

[Crosby leaves the office, Adam follow.]

ADAM: Crosby. Hey!

CROSBY: What?

ADAM: Well, that is not cool.

CROSBY: Oh, that's not cool?

ADAM: Uh-uh.

CROSBY: What is cool, Adam? Putting a price tag on my dream?

ADAM: Oh, come on, you can't just throw your "dream" out there. This is a business, and we're business partners, and I would like to discuss this.

CROSBY: What do you want to talk about? You want to sell? You want to sell a place we just built with our own hands?

ADAM: I might.

CROSBY: It's not gonna happen! Okay? This discussion's over.

ADAM: All right, wow. Well, this is very mature.

CROSBY: Maturity has nothing to do with this, okay? You know how stupid it would be if we sold right now? I mean, why do you think they want to buy it? Because we're doing great and they're afraid of us.

ADAM: [Louder.] It's not stupid, and they're not afraid of us, Crosby, all right? Do you have any idea how difficult it would be for us to clear a $1 million here? Do you?

CROSBY: [Yelling.] I don't care about $1 million. Okay?

ADAM: Oh, you don't?

CROSBY: [Yelling.] I love this place. I thought you loved it too. I thought we were gonna work here until we were done!

ADAM: [Yelling.] I love it here too, Crosby, but I have financial problems I don't know how to solve, and you know this. All right? I've put my family through hell, I burned through our savings putting this place together, and now you're trying to unilaterally decide what we're doing, and it's not gonna go down that way.

CROSBY: [Yelling.] I'm not selling.

ADAM: Just stay here and try to have a talk with me about it! [Crosby leaves.] Thanks a lot.

[NEW SCENE - Unknown Park, campers are setting up their tents. Jasmine is watching Crosby.]

CROSBY: On three, one, tow three [Grunts] Boom!

JASMINE: Uh.

CROSBY: [crawling out of the partly erected tent.] Now, that's a tent. Come on, right? Huh?

JASMINE: Why is it lopsided? It's lopsided.

CROSBY: Huh. Maybe I'm missing a pole or something.

JASMINE: Oh, missing... I thought you had all the poles.

CROSBY: Oh, yeah.

JASMINE: Yeah.

CROSBY: You... it's very funny, huh?

JASMINE: Yes, yes, yes. I think it's very funny.

CROSBY: The pole police.

JASMINE: [Laughs]

CROSBY: I'll figure it out. I'll just tighten some stuff.

JASMINE: [Sighs] Um, what about the tape? What happens if it rains?

CROSBY: It's duct tape. It's not gonna go through duct tape.

JASMINE: Really?

CROSBY: Yes, this is magic tape.

JASMINE: I mean, I can just get Joe's tent. It's in the back of my car. It's brand-new.

CROSBY: Look, I don't want to sleep in another man's tent. It's weird.

JASMINE: How's everything been at the Luncheonette?

CROSBY: Oh, it's great, except for Adam wants to sell it.

JASMINE: What? Why?

CROSBY: We got an offer for $1 million.

JASMINE: $1 million? That's amazing.

CROSBY: What, do you think I should sell it too?

JASMINE: No. I know how much that place means to you, and you can't put a price on something like that. It's like your home. I don't think you should ever sell it.

CROSBY: Thank you.

[NEW SCENE - Luncheonette, Adam's office, his cell phone rings.]

ADAM: Hello?

RICHARD: [Hands free in his car.] Adam Braverman, it's Richard Gilchrist, the man who's trying to make you a millionaire. I got to chase you down to follow up on this offer...

ADAM: Gilchrist, hi, how are you? Uh, yeah, well, listen. We really appreciated that offer, but it still looks like we're not gonna sell. So...

RICHARD: "Looks like"?

ADAM: Listen, I'm not gonna... I'm not gonna lie to you. We, uh... we talked about it, and my brother's just... he's very adamant. He does not want to sell.

RICHARD: But it sounds like you might.

ADAM: I was thinking about it, honestly, but that's beside the point. The point is... It is not gonna happen.

RICHARD: Listen, why don't you come meet me for a drink tonight? I'll be back at Dalton's around 9:00.

ADAM: I can't do that. Crosby's not available tonight.

RICHARD: So just come by yourself.

ADAM: I can't do that. That's not how I do business. He's my business partner. He's my brother. I won't do that to him.

RICHARD: Oh, jeez, Braverman, come on. You're such a good guy. Calm down. We're in the same business. We're gonna go out, have a drink. Everybody's pants are gonna stay on, relax.

ADAM: [Laughs] All right. All right. All right, I can do this. I'll see you at Dalton's at 9:00, right? All right, I'll see you there. All right, bye.

[Phone beeps as he ends the call.]

[NEW SCENE - Hospital delivery room.]

ZOE: [Groaning, clearly in pain.]

JULIA: Breathe. Breathe. Breathe. Zoe, breathe. It's gonna end, okay? I promise. Oh!

ZOE: [Breathing heavily] Ow! Ow.

JULIA: Keep breathing, okay? Just... all right. Okay.

ZOE: You didn't say it was gonna hurt like this, and you should have told me.

JULIA: There's really nothing to compare it to. I'm sorry...

ZOE: How about "hell on earth"? How about that?

JULIA: Okay.

ZOE: [Sobs. Whispering] I'm gonna die. It's gonna kill me, and I'm gonna die.

JULIA: Zoe.

ZOE: I'm gonna die.

JULIA: Listen to me, you're not gonna die.

ZOE: I can't do this.

JULIA: You can do this. I know you, and I promise, it's not gonna kill you, okay? You're really brave. [Choked up] You're so brave.

ZOE: [Sighs] I love you.

JULIA: Me too, sweetie.

ZOE: [Cries]

[NEW SCENE - Kristina goes to open her front door.]

SARAH: Hi.

KRISTINA: Hey.

SARAH: May I come in?

KRISTINA: Yeah.

SARAH: Yeah?

KRISTINA: Come on in. How you doing?

SARAH: All right. How are you doing?

KRISTINA: Just whipping up a new dish.

SARAH: Oh, yeah?

KRISTINA: Chicken Paprikash. I don't even know if that's how you say it but a little experiment, I guess. How's it going?

SARAH: Listen, I'm sorry.

KRISTINA: I am so sorry.

SARAH: I know, I'm really sorry.

KRISTINA: I can't believe that that happened.

SARAH: It was just insane, there was no reason for it to go there.

KRISTINA: Sarah.

SARAH: I've just had so much stuff going on.

KRISTINA: I overreacted.

SARAH: No, it was...

KRISTINA: I did.

SARAH: Wonderful what you did. It was heroic and brave...

KRISTINA: I should never have driven there to Sacramento.

SARAH: And I was thankful, actually, but, you know, I've had this worry lately about the kids...

KRISTINA: I've been sick to my stomach, you know?

SARAH: Because I'm thinking of maybe moving to New York.

KRISTINA: Wait, wait, wait, I just... have a seat, first of all, and back it up. You're gonna move to New York.

SARAH: No, I don't know.

KRISTINA: When are you gonna move to New York?

SARAH: Well, Mark and I were talking about this fantasy, you know, of going to New York after Drew graduates and hopefully goes to college. And I could write, and I know a producer there, and Mark's always wanted to teach there. And so it's on my mind, and all I can think about is, "are the kids okay? Are they going to be okay?"

KRISTINA: Sarah, go to New York. Write plays, live together, live in a brownstone, and the kids are gonna be fine. Amber will look up to you and think it's the greatest thing in the world. And she'll have the utmost respect for you. And Drew... well, Drew... who knows what he's thinking half the time? But I think you should do it. Just be happy, okay? You deserve it. Go to New York.

SARAH: Yeah.

KRISTINA: Yeah.

SARAH: Yeah.

KRISTINA: Wow.

SARAH: Thank you.

[NEW SCENE - Night around the camp fire with Jabbar and his friends.]

JASMINE: Crosby, I don't know how you think that marshmallow's gonna get hot that far away from the flame.

CROSBY: You know, you worry about your own marshmallow, all right? I got the supreme technique right here. If you get it as close as yours is, it's gonna burn.

JASMINE: Yeah, but a little burn on the outside is good. So the inside... get it nice and soft.

CROSBY: [To Jabbar.] What do you... what do you think? You think... who's doing this right?

JABBAR: Me and you.

JASMINE: You?

JABBAR: And you.

CROSBY: Yeah, he's the one who took camping classes, he knows.

JASMINE: I know how to camp. I was a girl scout, remember?

CROSBY: Oh, really?

JASMINE: Yeah, I know how to roast marshmallows.

CROSBY: That's right, that's right.

JASMINE: I know what I'm doing.

CROSBY: It's on fire!

JABBAR: Fire, fire! Blow it out.

CROSBY: Look at that thing.

JABBAR: Oh, it looks nasty.

JASMINE: I meant to do that.

CROSBY: [Laughing] Yeah. Oh, you're gonna eat that now?

JULIA: I am.

CROSBY: Oh, really? I want to see this.

JASMINE: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.

CROSBY: Oh, here we go.

JASMINE: Aah!

CROSBY: What?

JASMINE: Ow!

CROSBY: What did you do? [Laughing.] Oh, God, did you just burn your hand? Let me see, let me see.

JASMINE: [Groans] Ooh.

CROSBY: Oh, you really did it, huh? Yeah, that's, like, a first-degree burn. Maybe second-degree burn.

JABBAR: There's first aid in my teacher's car.

CROSBY: Oh, no, we're not gonna use that. We got a Braverman first-aid kit. Let's go. I'll fix you up.

JASMINE: Stay here.

CROSBY: Yeah, yeah. Don't go out in the woods or anything. There's grizzly bears out there.

JABBAR: That's not gonna happen.

[NEW SCENE - Short time later nearby.]

CROSBY: Okay. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Give me a little space here. Oh, yeah. There we go. You got to respect this kit. That's the Braverman kit.

JASMINE: [Laughs. She watches Crosby taking care of her.]

CROSBY: Ooh, look at that clean cut. All right, hold that. Oh, sorry, sorry, sorry. Uh-huh. Just like taping a hockey stick.

JASMINE: [Laughs]

CROSBY: Here we go. Okay, there's that. Hold on. Hold, hold, hold. Make this look less wonky. What's the matter, you don't like it?

JASMINE: No, it's good.

CROSBY: What's the matter?

JASMINE: I got to tell Jabbar about moving in with Joe. I-I haven't yet.

CROSBY: Do you think he doesn't want to move in there?

JASMINE: I just think it's gonna be different for him. It's a big change, you know? Now it's all official. You know? He's a good guy.

CROSBY: He's a lucky guy. That's for sure. I'm gonna check on the boy.

JASMINE: Okay. Thank you.

[NEW SCENE - Ambers apartment, the place is a mess. She plays her guitar as Kristina comes to the open door and knocks.]

AMBER: Hey.

KRISTINA: Hi. That sounded great.

AMBER: Thanks. Sorry it's messy right now.

SARAH: It's okay. I tried to call a lot, and I emailed you a few times. Amber, I, um... I'm really sorry for how everything happened in Sacramento. I really am. I didn't mean to embarrass you, and I'm sorry that I made a scene, but I'm not sorry about why I did it. I just want to make sure that you're okay. [Sighs]

AMBER: No, I... look, I understand. To be honest, I... I get why you did what you did. I just feel confused about... What to do and where I...

KRISTINA: I just don't want to see you give up. I want you to come back to work. [Sighs] Amber, when I was your age, I made some really stupid decisions that I regret. I know that I'm your Aunt, but I understand. I do, and I'm here for you. And I love you.

AMBER: [Strumming guitar]

KRISTINA: Okay. [Sighs]

[NEW SCENE - Camping. Inside the tent with Crosby, Jasmine and Jabbar. Crosby is playing his guitar.]

ALL: [Singing badly.] …we're together, right or wrong. Where you go, I'll tag along. Remember me. I'm the one who loves you, remember me, I'm the one who loves you _

JASMINE: [squeals]

ALL: [Singing.] Remember me I'm the one who loves you.

[Wailing and chirping as they end.]

MAN: Hey, keep it down in there a little, Braverman!

[Laughter]

CROSBY: Shh! We're gonna get kicked out of the class camp trip.

JASMINE: You're crazy.

CROSBY: All right, buddy, let's get some shut-eye.

JABBAR: All right.

CROSBY: What do you say? That's what they do on the trail.

JASMINE: And it is time for me to go.

JABBAR: Why do you have to go, mom?

JASMINE: Honey, we talked about this. You know why I have to go.

JABBAR: I know we talked about it, but I really don't understand it. So can you please stay? It's so much fun. I want you to be here. Please, mom?

JASMINE: I can't refuse that.

CROSBY: How can you?

JASMINE: Okay, fine.

JABBAR: Yeah.

JASMINE: Come on, come on.

JABBAR: Whoo!

CROSBY: You sweet-talked her. All right, get in there with your mom.

JASMINE: All right, good night.

[NEW SCENE - Dalton's Bar.]

RICHARD: [Chuckles] Lenny Kravitz's first album.

ADAM: Mm-hmm.

RICHARD: Oh, my God, I couldn't get him to wear shoes in the studio.

ADAM: Really?

RICHARD: Never would wear shoes, and feet smell like...

ADAM: Huh.

RICHARD: You understand what I'm saying?

ADAM: Mm-hmm.

RICHARD: [Laughter]

ADAM: I get it.

RICHARD: You know, most people would've jumped at that first offer.

ADAM: Yeah, well, you can take it from me. Crosby's not "most people."

RICHARD: Mm.

ADAM: You know, I'm gonna drop my poker face here for a second. Doesn't really matter 'cause we're not taking it, but I want to tell you what a damn impressive offer that was.

RICHARD: We thought it was. Apparently we don't know as much as we thought.

ADAM: Ah. Let me ask you a question.

RICHARD: Shoot.

ADAM: Why is the luncheonette worth so much to you? I know we're doing okay. I know that we probably cut into your business a little bit, but west coast recording is huge.

RICHARD: Yeah, we're huge, but there's a cache to that place. That's why you've gotten all the press.

ADAM: Right.

RICHARD: It's not like we can go out and build our own because it's all tied into the history of that building.

ADAM: Yeah.

RICHARD: You can't reinvent something like that.

ADAM: All right. I got it. You basically offered us $1 million because it's cool.

RICHARD: Yes, we offered you $1 million because it's cool... And one of a kind. What if we upped our offer?

ADAM: Oh, God, don't. Please.

RICHARD: [Laughs]

ADAM: Walking away from the initial offer was painful enough.

RICHARD: What's an offer that would make your brother budge, hmm?

ADAM: I'm sorry, I'm not okay having this conversation.

RICHARD: We're just talking, Braverman. Chill.

ADAM: All right.

RICHARD: God, you crack me up, man.

ADAM: Well, I'm glad I could provide you with some amusement.

RICHARD: I've done my research, man. I know you ran T&S shoes for 17 years. I also know that you understand what a windfall in business is and how rare they are. This is a once-in-a-lifetime offer, and it will change your life.

ADAM: I know that, and I can't make this call on my own.

[Adam sighs as Richard writes down an offer on a napkin.]

RICHARD: What about that? Just look at it. Just look at it.

ADAM: You can't be serious.

RICHARD: I am, Adam. I'm dead serious.

ADAM: Okay. Think I'm gonna have to... Try to talk my brother into it.

RICHARD: Will you shake on that? [They shake hands.] Well, all right.

[NEW SCENE - Delivery room montage, soft rock music plays as Zoe goes through the final stages of delivery. Inaudible dialogue as Julia and the doctor encourages her.]

ZOE: [Screaming]

DOCTOR: Push, good.

NURSE: Good, good, good, good.

ZOE: [Continues screaming]

DOCTOR: Yes, yes, yes.

NURSE: Good job.

DOCTOR: There we go. There we go.

[Baby crying]

JULIA: You did so good.

ZOE: Where is he? Is he okay? Is he okay? He okay?

DOCTOR: He's a beautiful baby boy. Beautiful and healthy.

JULIA: He's perfect.

ZOE: [Sighs]

JULIA: Zoe, you want to hold him?

ZOE: [Panting] I don't want to hold him. [She looks away crying.]

[Julia takes her new baby as he continues to cry.]

[NEW SCENE - Braverman yard. Night. Mark has set up a picnic on the table outside the guesthouse.]

MARK: Sarah?

SARAH: Hi.

MARK: Hi.

SARAH: What are you doing?

MARK: I thought we could have a little night picnic.

SARAH: Ooh.

MARK: [Chuckles]

SARAH: Did you get really good night-picnic snacks?

MARK: Hey, cool jacket.

SARAH: Hey, thanks.

MARK: Looks so good.

SARAH: My boyfriend left it over.

MARK: He must be a cool guy.

SARAH: [Chuckles] Wow, what did you get? Cheese!

MARK: Wine, cheese.

SARAH: Thanks.

MARK: Absolutely.

SARAH: So I called this producer who helped me with the reading last year.

MARK: Yeah.

SARAH: Producer of the theater... who's in New York now.

MARK: Mm-hmm.

SARAH: And, uh, he was really enthusiastic, and he was, you know, very confident that he could help me, you know, get something started.

MARK: In New York?

SARAH: Yeah.

MARK: Wow, cool.

SARAH: Yeah, made me feel good.

MARK: Yeah, that's incredible. So you're... this is real. You're taking it seriously.

SARAH: Yeah.

MARK: Me too.

SARAH: I mean.

MARK: Yeah.

SARAH: We're talking about a year from now, and I don't know where the kids are gonna be then, you know?

MARK: Right.

SARAH: And Drew especially, given everything.

MARK: Right. Yeah, me neither. No, I... w-we will... we will make sure that both of your kids feel okay with it before we make any decisions.

SARAH: Yes we will.

MARK: Yes, we will.

SARAH: [Chuckles] Is that a baguette in your lap, or are you just happy to see me?

MARK: It is a baguette in my lap. And I am happy to see you. And I'm going to kiss you.

SARAH: Thanks for the heads-up. [Chuckles]

[NEW SCENE - Back camping, late at night Crosby watches Jasmine sleep. She wakes and smiles back. Crosby gets up and goes outside. Jasmine follows.]

JASMINE: Hey.

CROSBY: Hey.

JASMINE: What's wrong? Is it...Because of me telling Jabbar about Joe or because I told you about that? I'm sorry, I shouldn't have even said anything. I didn't want to ruin tonight.

CROSBY: You didn't ruin anything. I did a year ago. I had this beautiful family, and I ruined it. And I couldn't fix it, and it's too late. I wish I could go back in time and not be stupid. I can't.

JASMINE: We just... we just have to get through this part.

CROSBY: Well... This part hurts.

JASMINE: I know. Come here. [They hug.]

[NEW SCENE - Hospital entry. Morning. Julia and the family arrive.]

JULIA: You excited?

SYDNEY: Yeah.

JULIA: Me too!

SYDNEY: Do you think my baby brother will like the giraffe that I got him?

JULIA: Oh, I think he's going to love it.

JOEL: [Holding up the baby capsule.] I hope I remember how to use this thing.

JULIA: [Chuckles] You will.

SYDNEY: I totally remember how to use it.

JOEL: Oh, you do?

SYDNEY: And you know what, daddy?
JOEL: Yes.

SYDNEY: I can be the one to watch him in the backseat while you drive home.

JOEL: That would be perfect.

SYDNEY: Yep.

JULIA: That sounds like a plan.

SYDNEY: I pull duty. [Laughs]

JOEL: Okay.

JULIA: Hey, um, I'm going to just drop these off to Zoe, and maybe we shouldn't bombard her.

JOEL: Oh right.

JULIA: So why don't you guys hang out here for a couple minutes? And then meet me in the nursery, [Squeals] and then we can meet our son. You can meet him!

JOEL: Okay. [Clears throat] Come on.

SYDNEY: Let's go.

JULIA: Oh, hi.

NURSE: Hi.

JULIA: Um, where's Zoe?

NURSE: Uh, she took a walk down the hall. She should be right back.

JULIA: Great, okay. She's okay?

NURSE: Yeah, she's doing great. She'll be able to check out today.

JULIA: Um, would you do me a favor and make sure that she gets these?

NURSE: Sure.

JULIA: Thank you. I'm Julia. I'm adopting her baby. [Chuckles] Yeah.

NURSE: Okay, yeah.

JULIA: Um, I'm going to run to the nursery. We get to take the baby home.

NURSE: Congratulations.

JULIA: Thank you.

NURSE: All right, bye-bye.

[NEW SCENE - Nursery. A short time later. Babies are crying as Julia looks for her new son. Her face drops as she sees Zoe with the baby.]

ZOE: Aw. Shh, shh, shh, shh.

[Moments later a very happy looking Zoe looks up to see Julia on the other side of the glass. She knows she can't give up the baby. Julia knows it's over as she walks off.]

[NEW SCENE - Julia walks down the busy hospital hall not knowing what to tell the family. The elevator doors open.]

JOEL: All righty. There we go. There she is.

SYDNEY: Where's the baby?

JULIA: Um, the nursery isn't quite open yet. Um...

JOEL: Okay.

JULIA: Think you could take her downstairs for a hot chocolate or something?

JOEL: Yeah. Is the baby...

JULIA: The baby's fine.

JOEL: Okay.

JULIA: But it's... it's... it's not... [Starting to break up.]

[Julia finds an empty room and starts crying uncontrollably.]

[NEW SCENE - Camping, inside the tent. Early morning. Water starts dripping on Crosby's face.]

CROSBY: [groans] Oh, my God. It's raining.

JABBAR: What?

CROSBY: There's water c... we're taking on water. Get up, get up, get up, get up.

JASMINE: Ooh.

CROSBY: Get up, get up, get up.

JABBAR: Water?

CROSBY: Yeah. Get up, get up, get up, get up.

[NEW SCENE - Outside the tent.]

CROSBY: Oh, my God, it's pouring.

JASMINE: What?

CROSBY: It's pouring!

JASMINE: Jabbar, get up, get up. Oh! I thought it wasn't supposed to rain!

CROSBY: Yeah, well, it's...

JASMINE: [Screams]

CROSBY: Pull everything up.

JASMINE: [To Jabbar] Get inside. Get inside.

CROSBY: Yeah. I'll take down the stakes.

[NEW SCENE - Braverman Guesthouse. Raining. Amber enters.]

AMBER: Hey.

SARAH: Hi.

AMBER: Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up.

SARAH: Is everything okay? Hi.

AMBER: Is it a bad time?

SARAH: No. What's going on?

[Amber doesn't say anything as she kicks of her shoes to get into the bed.]

AMBER: [choked up] I just don't... I just don't really want to talk about it.

SARAH: Okay.

AMBER: I just wanted to see my mom, you know? [Sighs] I missed you.

SARAH: I missed you. Missed you.

AMBER: [Sighs]

[Sarah smiles knowing her daughter still needs her.]

[NEW SCENE - Back at the camping. They race to Jasmine's car as the rain comes down hard. Crosby helping Jabbar in.]

JABBAR: Whoo!

CROSBY: Okay.

JABBAR: Bye, daddy. That was so much fun.

CROSBY: I love you, buddy. Get in before your underwear gets wet. [To Jasmine.] Hey, thanks for coming. It meant so much to him.

JASMINE: Yeah, I think it did too.

CROSBY: Okay, and, um, you know, Joe is a really great guy, and you don't need to worry about telling Jabbar. He's gonna be fine.

JASMINE: Okay.

CROSBY: Okay.

JASMINE: Thanks.

CROSBY: Yeah. All right.

[They get inside their cars as thunder booms in the distance.]

JASMINE: You got your seat belt on? Okay.

[She starts the engine, watching Crosby in his car. He starts to pull out of his parking spot.]

JASMINE: Wait. Stay here. I forgot to tell your dad something. [To Crosby] Wait!

[Banging on the window Crosby gets out of his car.]

CROSBY: What?

JASMINE: I love you. I've always loved you. I never stopped loving you. And... and I don't want to live with anybody else. And I know that we argue all the time, and we fight. And... and I'm bossy and controlling and you're... well, you're you, but... [Sighs she looks back at Jabbar.] I love our family, and I want to be with you. Crosby Braverman, I want to be your wife. Will you still marry me?

CROSBY: [Smiling.] Yes, I will marry you.

JASMINE: You will?

CROSBY: Yes!

[They kiss in the rain. Jabbar smiles from the car before running out to join them.]
